Second Announcement for: Conference in Analysis at The National University of Ireland, Maynooth (and also Trinity College Dublin) 13-17 June 1999 (Sunday-Thursday). This conference, partly funded by the European Union, is the third of a set of three Euroconferences, the first two of which were in Saariselka, Finland (June 1997) and Berlin (August 1998). The talks will be on various flavours of geometric analysis. Except for Tuesday, the talks will be at Maynooth, the second oldest university in Ireland. On Tuesday morning, the conference venue switches to the oldest: Trinity College Dublin (home of The Book of Kells), in Dublin city center. Tuesday afternoon will be free from talks to allow people to explore Dublin. The speakers are: M. Anderson P. Haissinsky K. Astala D. Herron N. Baker V. Kauko Z. Balogh T. Korner A. Beardon P. Koskela M. Bonk V. Mayer T. Carbery H. Pajot T. Carroll B. Palka M. Comerford M. Reimann M. Essen S. Rickman H. Farag P. Rippon R. Fournier O. Roth S. Gardiner E. Saksman F. Gehring D. Schleicher L. Geyer S. Vodop'yanov M. Gonzalez M. Zinsmeister R. Greiner Information about the conference can be found at http://steve.maths.may.ie:8001/conf.html Maynooth is about 24km from the centre of Dublin, to which it is connected by bus and train. We expect that most people will choose to stay in the College Rooms on campus, but of course people are free to make their own alternative arrangements. ACCOMMODATION: Accommodation will be on the South Campus (also known as the Old Campus) at Maynooth, where the conference will be held. The Maynooth Math Department is in Logic House, also on the South Campus. The College Rooms each have private washbasins, but toilet/shower facilities are shared. A continental breakfast is included. Single rooms cost IRP 18, shared (twin bed) rooms cost IRP 16 per person sharing, and rooms with double beds cost IRP 32. These costs are per night, and IRP means Irish Pound (one pound equals about 1.27 euro). REGISTRATION: For those who have not already registered, a registration form is included below; you may return it electronically or by regular mail. The final deadline for registration is: Friday, April 23. FOR SPEAKERS: Please send a title and an abstract. Don't forget to register! GETTING TO MAYNOOTH: The most convenient way to get to Maynooth from Dublin Airport is by taxi. The cost, unfortunately, is about 35 pounds. However, this can be shared as it does not depend on the number of people being carried. Most taxis take at least three people and some take up to seven people. Alternatively, one can take the Airport Express bus (not the city bus) from the airport to the central bus station in Dublin city centre. This costs 3 Irish pounds and usually takes 30 minutes or less. From there one takes the Expressway bus to Maynooth, which takes about 30 mins. The Expressway bus leaves every hour on the hour between 8am and 8pm. The cost is just over 2 Irish pounds. The university is less than 10 mins walk from the bus stop. We may be able to arrange for a private bus to make some trips from the airport to the university. This will depend on having many people arriving at more or less the same time of day. Please fill out the arrival/departure information below and we will see if this is feasible ARRIVAL IN MAYNOOTH: On arrival, check in at the gate-house just inside the front gate of the South Campus. Room keys and information can be picked up there. The university requires that rooms be paid for on arrival or in advance. Payment can be made in cash or by Visa or Mastercard. The fax number of the Accommodation office is +353 1 708 3534. CLIMATE: It will be mild; daytime highs should be around 16-22 C. The weather is quite variable. It is most likely to be a mix of cloudy, sunny, and wet weather! CONFERENCE DINNER: There will be a conference dinner on Wednesday. This will cost around 20 Irish pounds. Please indicate below if you (and any accompanying persons) wish to attend. This is a preliminary booking, the final booking will be made at the conference. ======================================================================== ARRIVAL/DEPARTURE INFORMATION ------------------------------- Day and Date of arrival: Time of arrival and flight number: Flight arriving from: Day and Date of Departure: Check-in time for departure: ======================================================================== CONFERENCE DINNER ----------------- Number of people attending: ======================================================================== REGISTRATION FORM (return by April 23) ----------------- Name of conference participant: Name(s) of accompanying person(s): Address: E-mail: Phone: Fax: Accomodation ------------ Please indicate the accomodation that you and any accompanying person(s) require (in College Rooms, as detailed above).
